In these times of rapid technological growth, we are lucky to bear witness to the advent of virtual reality and subsequently the birth of such a wonderful thing as VR Porn. With devices such as the Rift, people are able to experience the pornographic world in ways that were previously only dreamed of – in fact you could almost say it is a wet dream-cum-true.
Immersing yourself in and experiencing porn videos and games with 360° head-tracking allows us to have a vivid and sensual experience unlike ever before. Do you remember the first time you ever seen porn in stereoscopic 3d? It’s like that times 10,000; and if you haven’t tried it at all (3d porn of any form) you really don’t know what you are missing. Looking around in the Rift can only be compared to looking around in real life; of course we still have a long ways to go before we can claim perfection, but the feeling of presence is definitely there. Virtual reality is proving itself as a medium that is incorporating more and more people into its world, for better or for worse. The question which comes up now, is: Could
VR Porn be good for you?

At face value, the answer seems relatively simple; virtual reality is allowing users to experience things that they would have only imagined otherwise, and it’s not hard to imagine how that can be a positive thing. However, it is still undergoing early development and there are a lot of things that it needs to accomplish in order to truly bridge the barrier between fantasy and reality (well, you know what we mean), so there is still a ton of room for speculation as to how things will pan out. Virtual Reality Porn is subsequently of course also in the stages of its infancy, even more so perhaps than VR itself (although both have roots in well-established industries); and even though a lot of interest has been shown in its maturation, developer support is currently and unfortunately somewhat lacking so it’s still anybody’s guess as to what we will see in the future there as well.

For many years I battled with internet-porn addiction, but I eventually lego.

One interesting prospect is using virtual technology to help people with certain problems, like those with confidence issues, to overcome their anxieties. For people who are afraid to meet other people and are nervous about their sexuality, Oculus Rift Porn and Virtual Reality enabled social sex chat-rooms and similar mediums could help expose them to situations where they can intimately engage with others without any real risk, helping them to more easily adjust to talking and overcoming the more difficult moments. This may help them in real life situations when they are thrown into the mix. On the downside, you can almost guarantee there will be people who become addicted to the simulated experience and refuse to leave their homes in favor of the virtual realms, much the same as those who are addicted to computer games and internet porn today.

Whether it is VR sex or just a general use of virtual reality, it is important to keep multiple perspectives in mind. The aim isn’t to completely lose yourself in the virtual world to the point of becoming a recluse (well, for some of us it might be; but you know that isn’t healthy), but to enjoy experiences that would be difficult or impossible to attain otherwise and perhaps help promote a healthy desire for adventure in the real world (so get off yer bum already!). It can be a really useful medium as long as it is developed with the right intentions and used with good mental health in that regard. So get naughty in your virtual world or be as noble as Gandalf the Grey, just remember to keep sight of yourself and enjoy living in the real world as well!
